The West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra (WIYSO) launched its 40th season with the premiere of Westislandia by Eric St. Pierre, first performed publicly on June 1. We’re proud to continue under the artistic direction of Georges-Étienne d’Entremont, whose extensive experience with youth orchestras across Montreal brings fresh energy and a deep commitment to developing young musicians.
Musical Camp
Kick off the season with energy and enthusiasm at our annual musical camp, This immersive weekend is a fantastic opportunity for orchestra members to dive deep into the season’s repertoire through focused, intensive rehearsals. It’s also a chance to build camaraderie through fun games, group activities, and shared experiences in a relaxed setting—helping to strengthen both musical and personal connections within the ensemble as we gear up for a dynamic year ahead.
AOJQ
Looking further ahead, we’re excited to announce our participation in the AOJQ (Association des orchestres de jeunes du Québec) festival, taking place April 4–5, 2026. The event will culminate in a performance at the prestigious Théâtre Maisonneuve, offering our musicians the chance to collaborate with other youth orchestras from across Quebec and showcase their talent on a major stage.
